Our country Nepal is undergoing a socio-political transition for some time now. We all have expectations that this transition will set the foundations for a just, peaceful and prosperous society- a common aspiration of all of usthe Nepali people. The trouble is we have left this onerous task to a handful of political leaders of ours. No matter how capable and honest they may be, they can only bring about political change. It is us, the citizens of Nepal, that have to make efforts to bring positive change to our society that will sustain and strengthen any political change that may come about.
We all have that twinge of love and fervor for our country. Each one of us is concerned. We want to do something. Yet we get busy in the thick and thin of our daily life- conveniently leaving the tasks to be fulfilled by someone out there somewhere. In short we assign the task to anyone but us.
This approach would not get us peace and prosperity. No country in the world got positively transformed without rightful societal initiatives and citizens’ actions. Ours is no exception.
There is a practical problem though for many of us wanting to do good to the society. We do not know where, when and how to begin. With the formation of Volunteer for a Prosperous Nepal (VFAPN) we do not have to struggle with this challenge anymore.
Volunteer for a Prosperous Nepal (VFAPN) is an initiative for making a difference to our cities, our villages, our country and above all to ourselves. The initiative gives us an opportunity and provides us with a structure to volunteer for our nation.
We may choose one of the existing activity-stream that we think will help us make a difference given our skills and motivation. Or, alternatively, we may suggest/design a new activity-stream and expedite/lead the same.
Let us volunteer for our beloved nation Nepal. Let us make a stress free and violence free Nepal.
